Recently we wrote a song for a client’s first dance, which was also a surprise for the groom. The commission came to us earlier in the year, well in advance of the wedding. About a month after giving her the song we received a call from the bride-to-be, asking us to appear at her wedding to entertain the guests! After checking our diaries we agreed to play and plans for the day were sent via e-mail. A further request was for us to play an instrumental version of her custom song whilst she was walking down the aisle!! There was no way we could say no, it was a honour to be asked in the first place (but at the same time a huge responsibility!!)
We play gigs all the time but there is something about playing instrumental wedding songs as the bride is ‘walking down the aisle’. It’s the moment a lady looks forward to her whole life and we are playing the soundtrack. Scary stuff!
The wedding took place at the most amazing venue in the countryside, we looked out upon a beautiful view of green fields, trees and a huge lake. It was a great day enjoyed by all and we were chuffed to be a part of it.
We also played a set of originals and covers whilst the guests (and Mike!) sipped on champagne.
The Bride looked stunning and I’m sure she will never forget her moment. I was merely a wedding musician and I certainly won’t forget it!
I’m getting married next year and I’m thinking I will do the same kind of thing. The acoustic guitars made it a very relaxed atmosphere.
Music is the soundtrack to life, whatever you choose to listen to. The song we created for the Bride and Groom is only for them and we are happy to have supplied them with something very personal, a gift song that they can treasure forever. It was definitely a day to be remembered!
