It’s funny…when we came up with the idea of a completely unique song as a gift, being a man I was looking at it from a man’s point of view.
We were racking our brains for ways to promote the ‘gift song’ so that guys find it, they pick up on the idea and instead of buying a ring or a necklace they do something different (i.e. ordering a custom-written song!).
What we forgot is that men seem to be late planners and spontaneous purchasers. Not all of them but its fair to say most. When you order a song from the ‘Song Builders’, we need at least four weeks lead time to make it happen. It’s a shame that custom written gift songs can’t be picked up at the petrol station on the way home – if they could, then we would have a much easier sell!
As it goes we are still racking our brains to find the way to get this concept in front of the male of the species, to inject a little romance and sentimentality into the air! Without spending a small fortune advertising in mens’ magazines, that is (not that I think advertising in the likes of Zoo or Nuts Magazine would work anyway – say no more).
So it seems we have made a discovery from all our research and promotional activities. When it comes to buying gifts, it’s not men but women who are planners, looking for that something special to declare their love, and willing to go that little bit further. When it comes down to it, women seem to put more thought into buying romantic gifts for men than vice versa.
